Sleek, modern Greenform planters in a mix of unique shapes and sizes maximize both usable space and plantable space on a compact and sunny Brooklyn terrace, supporting a layered planting that mixes edible and ornamental fruits with herbs, flowering shrubs, and perennials.
Triangular planters offer balanced asymmetry along either side of the space, with blueberry, strawberry, rosemary, and basils to the right, and blueberry, hardy kiwi vine, and thyme to the left.
Clusters of cylindrical pots complete the perimeter; a fruiting fig underplanted with strawberries and a lilac underplanted with creeping raspberries hold down the corners, while lower containers lift flowering gaura and comptonia peregrina (sweetfern).
A young plum tree offers a focal point at the center, wearing a playful underplanting of variegated lemon thyme and craspedia globosa.
Throughout the space, rubus calycinoides, or creeping raspberry – a Field Form favorite for its shiny, evergreen leaves, fast-growing drape, and lovely white flowers – spills out from between taller pieces, tying things together.
