Brooklyn Conservatory of Music

Year: 2020

Location: Park Slope, Brooklyn

Scope: project management, metalwork, planting,

A massive excavation and resurfacing effort transformed the drainage capacity of a long-unused lot, enabling development of a versatile and welcoming gathering space adjacent to the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music.

Decomposed granite provides a bright (permeable!) foundation for events and performances of all kinds while original pavers, salvaged and re-laid along one side of the space, form a visual bridge from the old to the new. Perimeter beds, trimmed in steel for a clean and contemporary effect, overflow with thoughtful, seasonal plantings from our friends at Jane Gill Gardens.

New lighting creates an inviting glow long into the evening.
